Q.Onions, Scallions

Anonymous added on August 12, 2011 | Answered

I want to plant scallions. I would like to know if I can plant the roots from scallions I have bought from the grocery store, or do I need to buy seeds. If I can plant the root from the scallion, please tell me what needs to be done to do this. If I need to buy seeds, are they available in the fall? Scallions are used a lot in my home when cooking. They are becoming more and more expensive at this time. I bought planting boxes and good planting soil. I have checked out many planting guides here on the Internet, but I can’t get an answer regarding planting the roots from already grown scallions. Your help would really be appreciated.
