Q.One Vine Of My Devils Ivy Is Dying, But The Other In Same Pot Is Fine.

Zone South Shields, England. | Beth81 added on February 1, 2020 | Answered

I have 4 year old devils ivy in the same pot. They are both over 10ft and shooting new leaves all the time. One of them has started to lose its leaves. The stems go yellow and then the leaf falls off. It now only has 7 leaves left plus 3 new leaves. The vine it’s self looks totally fine. The other vine is growing well and has huge leaves. Can you think why it’s losing leaves and how I can save the last few, please?

Thanks beth

Your photo did not come through, unfortunately, so I cannot see the damage to assess it. I can take a guess at what is causing the issue, though.

Likely, the container is not large enough to support both plants' root systems. This will cause the stronger of the two to take over and kill off the weaker plant.

You may need to separate them, or let the weaker plant die off.
