One leafed tulips

My Grandmother always told me that a one leafed tulip plant would never bloom and would never become a two leaved tulip plan. Is this true?

If you have ever dug up tulips, you’ll see little bulblets. Whether they eventually develop blooms depends on how deeply they are planted. Here is a description of how to “grow” bulblets to bloom size. https://garden.org/frogs/view/8597/ ^[1]
