repotting gardenia with buds on it

If I repot my gardenia plant that has many buds on it, will this cause the buds to drop off? This plant has pretty much grown out of its original pot, purchased at Christmas.

Plants should be re-potted when they are dormant in winter instead of when they are bloom. If you re-pot when your plant is in bloom, you might overwhelm it or shock it during a period where it is expending energy to bud.
