number of times to fertilize each season

My home is located in a semi-tropical climate. Can grow cactus to deciduous and evergreen trees plus hibiscus, bougainvillea, ficus trees, and all manner of climbing vines. Average daily temperature is 75-78 degrees F. and 55 degrees F. night except hottest months (and driest) mid March to mid June (temps high at 85 degrees F./lows 65). Rainy season/cooler weather mid June to mid October. Mountainous lake area…humidity varies 45-90% depending on season, but mile high elevation so usually around 50%…drying effect due to elevation.

Needing to know how often and at what part of the year to apply granular fertilizer. Applied in late June when rainy season began. When to apply next?

Depending on your fertilizer brand and how much you applied, once a year might be enough. You might want to get a soil test to better understand what your plants need, because too much fertilizer can harm plants as well. Or, you could try a slow release organic fertilizer like compost, compost tea or worm castings, since these won’t harm plants even if you apply quite a lot. The following articles provide advice:
