Odour from new patio slabs

I bought patio slabs. And this morning we have noticed a bad odour from them. The slabs brake easily and have many air holes. I’m worried about having them laid. Any advice on what the smell could be.

We would need to know what the slabs are made of. Our best advice is to contact the party from whom they were purchased and find out what they can do to help you remedy the problem.
