Can I cut the top of northern pines when they get too high?

Topping or pruning off of a Pine Tree will not stop the upward growth of your trees.
A new branch will take over as a leader and the growth can be pretty quick.
You will need to continue to top the tree every few years.

These cuts can create a site for disease.
