we have an old damson tree it was fruiting well we pruned it several years ago and since then it has not had much blossom and no fruit what should we do?

They need little pruning but it should be done between spring and fall, rather than in winter.

You may consider getting a pollinator tree to go with it. Several are mentioned in this article below. I also included an article about plum trees not fruiting.
