Nocturnal animals

Over the weekend, we noticed on the front lawn in a hole that contained bees previously and then we covered it up, that an animal dug up the hole, and packed dirt into a plastic flower pot. This seems so strange. Any explanation would very much be appreciated. The flower pot could’ve been somewhere else on the property, discarded. The pot was left by the hole.

The night is filled with critters big and small that may have been rumbling around your garden.

By this time of the Spring they are quite active and generally searching for food and such after a long winter.
