Q.No Lemons On My Lemon Plant

Zone Larkhall | Gordon5888 added on June 12, 2025 | Answered

I’ve had my potted lemon tree for 3 years, but I’ve only got leaves and no lemons. I’ve repotted it with fertiliser compost, but still only leaves. What am I doing wrong?

Got it—here’s your corrected version in our standard gardening paragraph format:

If your potted lemon tree is full of healthy leaves but still not producing fruit after 3 years, it's likely due to excess nitrogen and a container that’s too small. Nitrogen fuels leaf growth but suppresses flowering, while a rootbound tree focuses on survival rather than fruiting. Switch to a citrus-specific fertilizer that’s lower in nitrogen and higher in phosphorus and potassium (like 5-10-10), repot into a larger container with well-draining soil, and ensure it gets at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Lack of flowers means no chance for fruit, so encouraging blooming is the first critical step. This article will help:
