nitrogen deficiency caused by wood chips

My gardening company put raw, dried wood chips instead of mulch on my garden and it completely destroyed the entire planting of hostas. I suspect this is caused by a lack of nitrogen in the soil. What is the remedy? What can I add? Thanks.

Putting fresh wood chips in and around garden plants is never a good idea as it will quickly burn the plants. I would remove as much of this as possible to prevent further damage.
