New growth at tip of stem fails to open and appears to be drying out, Some stems had 2 new buds forming but fails to continue.

New growth at the tip fails to open and appears to be drying out. New leaves started to grow but have fallen off.Currently no leaves on the plant and new budding has failed to continue budding. Can you tell me why or what can I do? Should I just cuttings off the plant and try to start all over again? Thanks for your help.

I’m not clear on the type of plant that you are referencing.

Can you be more specific or include images?
