Q.New Fronds That Never Develop!

Zone Orem, UT | Anonymous added on September 21, 2024 | Answered

My Sego palm (indoor plant) periodically sprouts a long stem from the base. I assume it’s a new frond, but it never develops. It just turns brown, and then I trim it off. What am I doing wrong?

Since it is so stretched, it could be a low light issue. Are you feeding it monthly? That could be an issue, too. Also be sure the soil is well draining and you are letting it dry between waterings. These cultural tips should help:
