New Crepe Myrtle Tree

I just got a crepe myrtle in a 5 gal. container. The spot I wanted to plant it is way too hard for us to dig (like hardpack clay, shale-like rocks), and I don’t think it would thrive there. We don’t have another spot. Can I plant it in a 24-inch diam. by 24-inch tall container? In ‘tree/shrub’ potting soil? It is about 5 ft. tall now.

Yes, you can. You will just need to make sure that it gets enough water and nutrients and it should be fine in the container. This article will help as well: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/crepe-myrtle/tips-to-grow-crepe-myrtles-in-containers.htm [1]
