Q.New allotment. Soil heavy clay and very stony

Zone Norwich Norfolk England | Anonymous added on August 25, 2020 | Answered

We managed to dig (with difficulty) 3rd of allotment. Successfully grew beetroot, onions, potatoes, sweet peppers, tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries and sweet corn.
Other allotment holders prepared raised beds and added various fertilisers with varying degrees of success. I was planning to add compost to the soil but as we managed to grow stuff, I’m not sure what to do for next year as we have had more success than some of the other allotment holders who have added to the soil.
Should I add something to the soil and if so what? Thank you.

Thank yo
