Q.NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO PLANT

Zone STERLING HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN 48312 | Anonymous added on May 12, 2020 | Answered

I HAVE 4 GARDEN BEDS THAT I PLANT VEGGIES IN. THE 4 BEDS ARE SEPARATED BY A WALK WAY AND THE WALK WAY CIRCLES EACH BED. Each bed is about 10 inches high and 6 x 6 feet square. SEE PHOTO… MY PROBLEM IS I AM 74 YEARS OLD. I have to pay some one to turn my soil and that can be expensive. I would like to plant something that does not need care and that it would make my yard attractive. Also please – no annual plants. Any suggestions??? I appreciate your help and Thank you so much for your advice.

Peas and beans will naturally aerate compacted soils without tilling or turning. There are many types and they can have flower colors ranging from white, to pink, to purple, to red! You could plant those in a couple beds, then plant perennial flowers, ornamental grasses and shrubs in others.
