Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI got some squash seeds from a friend and planted them. Squash came up and one grew up above the others like a sunflower with the large squash-like leaves and little yellow flowers that are in little thimble like cups. I don’t see any fruits forming, just the thimble like green cups after the flowers fall away. I touched the stem and it has a strange smell, and the stem is very smooth. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Anyone know what it is? I don’t have a camera that works, I’m sorry, any ideas???

This sounds like you have a Velvet Weed plant growing.
Here is a link with more information on this weed.
