Need more info on my green pumpkins

Question

Thanks Old Spice for your very quick response. I don’t understand why the “marrow” pumpkin is different to the round ones when all the pumpkin seeds came from the same pumpkin. Before I found this site, I read on another site that to get them to yellow for Halloween I should cut them off the stalks now, leaving 4″ above the pumpkin and place them in my porch (for the sun). Is this ok to do? If I leave them in the garden will their size keep on growing and if so how big?

About my lawn – I wondered if I could seed it and cover with compost and just water when I’m able because it looks very messy with bare patches all over it.

I didn’t know that they all came from the same pumpkin! In that case I believe it may be some sort of odd growth. I am sorry that I don’t know. I would keep the others on the vine if they are green. They should turn yellow and they will grow a bit bigger. If you seed your lawn then it will grow, but will die very quickly after because of winter. You can put compost on the spots and in the spring the soil will be full of nutriance and you will get better looking grass.

Thanks again Oldspice. As a newcomer to this site I don’t really know how to just thank you or anyone else after receiving such good advice because the only way I can see is to fill in ‘Post Answer’. If there’s some other way I would welcome knowing.

Regarding my lawn. There are so many bare spots that I’m thinking of aerating the whole, seeding then adding compost to the whole lawn. Anything is better than the state it is now in and who knows, I may be lucky in achieving a great lawn. Weather here in the Midlands, UK is very warm, humid days which I believe will continue.
