Need a Little Info Please

I live in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. My dad recently passed away and was buried on his home property. Where he is buried, there is nothing but shade, not even grass grows there. My first question is, if I wanted grass that would grow in the shade and can handle drought in the summer, what kind of grass would work? My second question is, my dad loved flowers and had a green thumb. I am looking for a flower that has colors, is a perennial, and can live in the shade. I want to do this so someday, even after I am gone, he will always have flowers. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
