Native Plants And Trees Typically Planted Around A Small House In 1915

Question

I am an author currently writing a novella about the history of a house, and it’s occupants since it was built in 1915— told by the house itself. Information available online isn’t exactly appropriate to my need which is, A great design for the shrubbery around the base of the house, the sides of the front walkway to the porch, and either one big Buckeye shade tree, or perhaps two or three smaller trees. If and when the book is published I will give credit in the book to the assist.(And I don’t know why my uploaded PDF drops the capital H on House, so I don’t know where you’re going to get the PDF or not. If not please advise.
