Q.My Wisteria Vine Is Beautiful but Never Blooms

Zone 8/9 | jjhctjtc added on June 16, 2013 | Answered

I dug up and replanted a wisteria vine several years ago [had blooms on it then]. It is beautiful and put it next to a tree in my yard so it could twine around and go up it. It is now 30 40 feet up tree but it has never bloomed. Any suggestions?

Hopefully this article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/vines/wisteria/wisteria-blooming-problems.htm

I was told by a 3rd generation nurseryman that "whipping" the trunk with a piece of old garden hose would cause the wisteria to bloom next season...it always worked for him. I would suggest that this be done without onlookers!
