bird of paradise with bent shoot

Question

My white bird of paradise was in a strong storm the other night and the main leaf shoot bent. Will it still produce its next leaf? I have braced it up with two other leaves in the meantime. Is this ok or do I need to cut it off?

I would trim away the damaged leaf, but be careful not to cut into the trunk.
The plant should recover and began to grow again.
