Q.My string of pearls plant isn’t doing well..help !!

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. It’s by a window, I try to water it lightly once a week, the soil doesn’t look right, but, it was flourishing when I bought it a couple of months ago. I haven’t done anything but water it once a week.
I know it’s a succulent. It’s like a cactus..requires minimal care..but something is wrong..

Once a week may be too often. It is best to check the soil instead of watering on a schedule.
