Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI bought seed online that was supposed to have been butternut– have grown butternut in past. This variety vines like butternut, but does not look anything close to butternut. Fruit is round, about 6 inches in height and about as big as a soccer ball.

This isn’t uncommon, and will likely result in a healthy butternut. Sometimes they can start out almost round, or cube-like ,even!
Sometimes, though, seed companies can accidentally mislabel seeds. This could be the case here, as well.
