Q.My silver pony foot won’t trail

Long story short I thought I was a pro right out the gate and took ONE hanging basket of silver pony foot and split it in THREE. Although miraculously I’ve managed to keep all three sections alive, I can’t seem to get them to grow long. I know technically it’s ground cover buuuuut how can I get back to where I started??

Dichondra argentea should trail when it gets to the edge of the pot; it has nowhere else to go. Are they in rich soil? Do they get full to part sun? Review the cultural conditions and see if something is missing:
