Q.My Sagos

Anonymous added on April 8, 2014 | Answered

My Sagos have always been very bushy and pretty. Now two of my big ones have totally gone flat straight out with an ugly ball in the middle where it has always brought in new palms. How do I bring these back?

This is the reproductive organ of the sago. Cone-shaped protrusions are normally male, while females have a more cabbage-like appearance. If it is male, you can remove it. You also have the option of leaving it as is and will not harm the plant either way. We do not, however, recommend removing female blooms.
