Sago Palm

My Sago Palm did not produce fronds this year or a cone. I cleaned it up and got rid of the babies around the base and it produced a spiky like flower. Why did it produce this and is it a new center or what? We want to know what size pot to put it in now.

Your sago palm may have been putting more energy into flowering this year and that may be why it did not produce new fronds. The flower will eventually fade and you may not see one again for several years. Sago palms bloom infrequently. You sago should resume normal growth next year.

I would put it in a pot that is 2-5″ larger in diameter than the last container it was in, if the plant needs to be repotted.
