Redbud Trees

Q.My Redbud bloomed this Spring, but the leaves did not grow on those top branches. The leaves grew from the base of the tree.

The upper branches of the tree are healthy. Can I prune this tree in the Spring? Should I remove the branches that grew from the base?

Sounds like the top of the tree died off.

You can prune out the dead branches and allow the tree to grow back.
