Zone 3 to 7 is quite broad. I will need to know a specific zone.

The gravel makes it difficult to tell what is going on, but it may just be receiving too much water. You will want to make sure the soil under the gravel is dry down to about 3 inches or so before watering again. Overwatering at transplant will increase the risk of transplant shock.

It is very hot right now in many areas, including my own. Planting at this time should be avoided if you are in zone 7
