my potted hosta is laying dormant

A very large potted blue-green hosta was gifted to me from a very kind neighbor 2-years ago. However, this year the very large plant has not sprouted a single leaf. Can you help?

Your plant should have sprouted by now. Perhaps it was not sufficiently protected from the winter weather. Here’s one article on growing hosta in containers https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/hosta/hostas-containers.htm [1]
and another on overwintering potted plants indoors: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/hpgen/acclimate-plants-indoors-winter.htm [2]
I recommend you carefully remove the hosta from the container to see what shape the roots are in.
