I would consider the plant as “a loss” as the fruit will not continue to ripen.

No, it won't regrow. They are only good for one pineapple. If there is any stem under the pineapple that tore, you might try taping it together. Otherwise, if there are any suckers or baby plants, they will continue to grow and produce a pineapple. Here is more:
