Q.My Pears Get Spots That Look Like Maybe A Bite And It Becomes Hard Around The Spot. What Is It?

Zone 53221 | Anonymous added on April 26, 2022 | Answered

The tree blooms nicely. Pears start growing out and all at once there are these spots. As the pear grows those spots become hard and indented. I never see any kind of bugs or flying insects. Also, do I spray the tree before it blooms with a dormant spray? And, how do we trim them?

Fruit trees need a regular spraying and pruning program to perform well. This extension article is very in depth about problems with insects and when to spray and causes of inferior fruit. It also covers disease and environmental concerns.
