Q.My Newly Purchased Muhly Grass Is Turning Brown. What Can I Do To Prevent Them From Dying?
I just purchased 2 pink muhly grass plants. I placed them in decorative containers keeping them in their original pots for the time being and placed them on our pool decking. Within 2 weeks they started turning brown. We thought that the sun reflecting from the deck may be the issue and moved them to another area in our yard. We have been getting some 93 to 98 degree weather recently as well. What may have caused this in such a short period of time.

I suspect the water is not being drained out of the outer container after watering. When you water, pull out the grass, which is in its original container, and water it, let it drain, then return it to the outer pot.
Pull the plant out of the original container and inspect the roots. If they are brown and mushy (indicating root rot), quickly repot them in a clean container with fresh potting soil.
If the roots look OK, just be sure to remove the inner pot when watering. Since it is so hot, they may need to be watered daily. You can stick a finger in the soil and see if it is dry. Here is more about caring for the grass:
