My New Purple Magic Crepe Myrtle Doesn’t Look Right

Hi, I just got a purple magic crepe myrtle by mail. The trunks are a different color than the branches. The trunk is light while the branches are dark and dry. It was on a shipping truck for a week. Should I trim off the dark branches next spring? It’s my first crepe myrtle but it looks different than what I’ve seen in person.
