grapefruit starter trees

My mom gave me two grapefruit starter trees about 2 ft tall. The leaves have STICKY substance on them. I’ve taken a drop of Dawn detergent with warm water and wash it off but comes back the next day. Not sure WHAT IT IS or what I should do about it.

This is Honeydew, the secretions of insects.

Inspect the trees to see if you can determine which insect is on the trees.

Neem Oil can be used to treat the trees. Make sure you spray both the top and bottoms of the leaves.
Neem Oil is organic and safe for people, pets and bees.
