My Male Sago Palm had Pups

I’m confused; we just took 14 pups off my sago palm, and now it growing the big brown cone like it did last year. Is my palm confused too? What is happening?

This is a normal reproductive process – that is a male sago palm flower that has emerged (more information at the link below). I can understand your confusion – two years in a row is unusual but not unheard of.
