My Liatris plant is getting brown areas on the stems and the buds are dying. Is it a disease, and how can I save it?

The plant was healthy and green until I noticed the brown stalks when watering early this week. There are some flowers that are healthy.

Avoid overwatering these plants, and avoid overhead watering.
Allow the soil to dry between waterings.
If the issue continues, treat with a fungicide.
