Q.My Lettuce Seedlings Are Spiny And Weak

Zone Zone 9 (central Florida) | vmattrasingh added on December 14, 2020 | Answered

If I follow the instruction on the package and sow lettuce seeds 1/2″ deep, my seedlings are spiny and weak. I tried planting them deeper and find that they will take much longer to germinate or none at all. How do I go about getting strong healthy seedlings. Thank you

This comes down to the amount of light that they are receiving. Spindly plants will indicate that they need more light. If these are under horticultural light, be sure that they fixture is close enough to the plants to support strong growth. If these are LED, be sure that they are full spectrum, and not just only red and blue.
