My lemon tree started flowering

I just noticed the other day my lemon tree has started to flower lots of flowers. Is there anything I need to do or just wait till they open then self-pollinate them? I have it in a container. I actually left it in the container it was shipped in. And it’s done great, so that’s why I didn’t repot it. It’s about 3/12 ft tall from bottom of pot to top of plant. Also, when I self-pollinated the first tree, I used a paint brush and was very gentle but the flowers would fall off when I did it. Does that hurt anything? Sometimes just part of the flower, other times the whole flower. If I get a florescent grow light, how far away should I keep it from the plant? Sorry didn’t realize till after I took the picture the flowering is on the back side and left side. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Citrus trees need to be a certain age before they can bear fruit. The age varies with the variety of plant, so yours is probably not old enough to do much more than make a few flowers. Here are a couple of articles to give you some tips about raising lemon trees indoors, and pollinating citrus: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/lemons/how-to-grow-a-lemon-tree.htm [1]

The more light you can provide for your tree, the better chance of getting flowers and fruit. If you want to add supplemental lighting, you’ll want to set the fixture only a few inches above the top leaves for maximum effect. This article will tell you more:
