Q.kiwi fruit drop

Zone edgewood iowa | abner added on June 14, 2016 | Answered

My kiwi puts on fruit but only gets the size of a pea and falls off. Why does this happen? I have a male plant also.

The two most common reasons for immature fruit drop on Kiwi is water stress and pollination issues.
Regular watering of 1 inch of water is important. Roots should remain moist and not dry out.
During their active growth and hot weather you may need to water more then once a day.
Adding hardwood mulch to the base of the plant can help with moisture retention.
You should have 1 male for every 8 female plants.
Grow additional flowers that attract Bee's to your garden.
