My Hydrangea is Not Blooming

Twice a year I use Holly Tone fertilizer around my Endless Summer hydrangea plants. They are showing fewer blooms every year (they’ve been in the ground 4 years). I have not pruned except to remove completely dead branches. My husband made wood framed tepees to cover each on over the winter (we live in Manlius, NY). I have heard there is another fertilizer that will encourage blooming, but can’t remember what it was. Can you please help?

You may be thinking of phosphorus. If there is a lack of phosphorus in the soil, plants will have little to no blooms. You can either use a phosphorus rich fertilizer or add some bone meal to the soil.
