My giant outdoor Yucca plant is bent at the waist

Last fall (2016), the big Yucca plant in my front yard began to lean a little. It stood about 10+ ft tall, with green “leaves” making up about two-thirds of its height and about one-third of its height being made up of its brown stem/trunk.

I thought the reason it was leaning was because it was top-heavy, but failed to stake it.

In Dec and Jan we had 2 or 3 bouts of cold weather here in Central Texas. I didn’t cover it or give any protection due to its size. Now, its stem/trunk is bent at a 90 degree right angle at the point where the stem ends and the “leaves” begin.

It’s been standing like this, bent at a 90 degree angle, for about a month.

Do you think it can recover and continue growing, though definitely in a new shape different from its original straight vertical form, if I just leave it alone? Or do I need to have someone cut it down and remove it?

I live on a secluded lane, tucked in the woods, and my yard is rather natural and wild in its “gardening” design. I don’t mind it taking on a new form, but wonder if it’s even still alive.

Pruning the top off a Yucca is not recommended and generally leads to unsightly growth and the need to continue pruning.
If your fine with your Yucca, then let it grow.
Damage from the cold can take weeks to appear.
