There are several reasons for yellowing leaves. Here is an article that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/gardenia/helping-a-gardenia-bush-with-yellow-leaves.htm

I live in Arizona and some of the leaves on my rose bush and rose trees have leaves that turn yellow and brown. These are roses that have been in the ground for several years.
