Q.My Gardenia Bush’s flowers turned yellow

Zone 10 Florida | emgatt941 added on May 28, 2012 | Answered

I recently purchased 2 Gardenia bushes (in pots) from Wal-Mart. In about 2 days all the white flowers turned yellow and dropped off. Now it is not blooming at all. What happened? And, what could I have done to prevent this from happening? Since these pots are sittting around my front entrance, I wanted them to look inviting – not the way it happened. Elaine

Gardenias can be picky.. If they are moved to a new environment, they can go into a bit of shock and they will drop their flowers.

Making sure that you are giving them exactly the kind of environment they like (indirect light, plenty of water, plenty of nutrients) will help prevent them from going into shock when they go into a new home.
