Fuchsia was overwatered

I want to overwinter it, what do I do now? My “helper” overwatered fuchsia A LOT. I haven’t watered it in about 2 or 3 weeks and I’ve kept it outside for the heat and out of the rain – the soil is now about where it should be after a watering. The plant had lost almost all of its leaves, was not producing new blooms, and the stems seemed to be going woody/brittle. It looked like it was going to die but I noticed a couple of days ago I’m beginning to get new growth on the stems.

Now I’m not sure how to proceed, as I had originally been hoping to try to overwinter it, something I’d never tried before. With the weather becoming cooler and the current condition of the plant, should I just begin the overwintering process now or wait, maybe bring it inside and give it time to finish recovering? I just don’t know if lengthening or shortening the overwintering time will do it harm or if the current condition of the plant means I shouldn’t attempt it at all. HELP!

I would just go ahead and let the plant start to go dormant.
It likely will be done blooming now with the stress of overwatering.
