Q.My Friend Left Me Her Long Time Clematis…I Planted This Under My Oak Tree And It Never Generated Growth..after 4 Years The Root

has emerged ..about a foot long and 1 and 1/2 feet in diameter..I pulled it up, very few small roots on it..do I cut it in section s and plant them or throw it away..she was very kind to me. and.I want to save this It was a very prolific bloomer, this clematis, lovely blue and large star shaped .please help me..

That doesn't really look like a clematis root. Perhaps it is something from the oak. But if you want to see if something will grow, cut off the section that is attached to the smaller roots and plant it in fertile soil in full sun, away from the oak tree. Keep the soil moist.
