My Figs Not Growing Correctly

I grew up eating very juicy, sweet, and delicious figs in southern California (SC). I have lived in the NW for many years, and planted two fig trees 3 years ago now. Anyway, last year and this year each tree has bared fruit. The problem is that they are hollow in the middle, with a dry look. No signs of insects or any other bugs. Took my my local nursery, but the fruit tree expert is not familiar w/this type of problem, but confirmed, no insect or bug problem. The fruit is tasty (sweet) but a little on the dry side from what I ate in SC. What could the problem be?

Dried fruit on the tree is normally cause by disease, which is introduced by the Dried Fruit Beetle. They crawl up into the fruit and bring disease. This article will help: http://extension.entm.purdue.edu/publications/E-229.pdf ^[1]
