My fig tree has fig rust or physopella fici

The rust on the leaves is spreading fast and I see new leaves coming out while others are curled up and falling. Is there anything I can do or just let the leaves go ahead and fall early? I live near Houston so we have the semi-tropical climate and it is hot right now. Winter this year may not be very cold.

Treat the plant with a fungicide. Rust is not normally fatal, but can make the tree look unsightly. I personally like to use neem oil as it is both a fungicide and a pesticide, plus it is safe for people and pets. Here is more information:
