Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI was absent for 2. 5 months. When I returned, the bark and branches of my fig tree that was fully productive last summer were like hit by an axe. The inside of the bark is still white; however, no disease is apparent and no insects.

If the cambium layer, just beneath the bark, is alive, and the stems don’t break with a sharp snap, ther is life in the plant. It may not releaf this year, but should next spring.
