Q.My Fig Tree Died, What Happened?

Zone mediterranean | Anonymous added on August 19, 2013 | Answered

I was absent for 2. 5 months. When I returned, the bark and branches of my fig tree that was fully productive last summer were like hit by an axe. The inside of the bark is still white; however, no disease is apparent and no insects.

If the cambium layer, just beneath the bark, is alive, and the stems don't break with a sharp snap, ther is life in the plant. It may not releaf this year, but should next spring.
